- Overall bus and coach volumes down 34.3% in the month and 21.7% for the rolling year to July.
- Coach volumes down 6.7% in July and down 4.9% for the rolling year to July.
- Big bus registrations rose 65.3% in July, but down 8.7% for the rolling year to July.
“Despite strong growth in July, year-to-date figures give a clearer picture of the challenges facing bus and coach manufacturers. The 8.4% drop over the seven months in 2011 reflects a return to stability, but demand remains lower than pre-recession levels and recovery continues to be fragile due to weak demand across business and retail sectors,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive.”
