- Positive start to the overall bus and coach market with registrations up 2.9% to 498 units in January.
- Purpose-built bus and coach registrations fell 10.4% to 267 units in the first month of the year.
- Converted bus registrations rose 24.2% to 231 units in January.
“The overall bus and coach market enjoyed a positive start to the year in January with registrations increasing 2.9%,” said Mike Baunton, Interim Chief Executive, SMMT. “2012 was an excellent year for the bus and coach sector with London 2012 and government incentives creating new opportunities for fleet operators to boost the efficiency and reliability of their fleets. While we expect growth to be more modest this year, other government incentives including the fourth round of the Green Bus Fund will serve to lift market demand.”
