- Bus and coach market remains stable, down just 0.2% in March to 1,032 units.
- Purpose-built sector drops 28.7% in the month and 23.5% for the year-to-date.
- Converted bus market continues to rise, up 22.3% in March to 707 units.
“The bus and coach market held firm in March with 1,032 registrations, a performance on par with 2013 levels,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “Considering the slow start to the year, it was pleasing to see this month’s relative strength. Just two fewer vehicles were registered this March versus last, with the year-to-date falling behind by 68 units. The greatest positivity came from the converted bus sector, which rose 22.3% in the month and 15.9% over the year so far.”
