- Bus and coach market steady in June with a 0.3% rise; year-to-date volumes remain up 3.4%.
- Purpose-built sector made gains in the month with a 19.1% rise, leaving the year down just 6.3%.
- Converted bus market fell 16.8% in June, but year-to-date remains positive, up 13.5%.
“The bus and coach market has reached the halfway point in the year with volumes up 3.4%, following a steady 0.3% growth in June,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “The purpose-built sector recovered from a subdued May with a 19.1% rise, and although the converted bus market fell 16.8% in the month, year-to-date registrations have grown 13.5%. With overall volumes up 11.1% for the last 12 months, the signs remain encouraging for the second half of 2014.”
