The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has named Jane Cole, Blackpool Transit managing director, as its president for 2021.

Ms. Cole, who will become the first woman to hold the position and has more than 20 years’ transport sector experience, will succeed current president Steve Whiteway in January. She has led Blackpool Transit for six years, where she is credited with updating the company’s fleet and providing passengers with an enhanced service.

Cole will work alongside CPT CEO Graham Vidler to look after the interests of CPT members and to promote awareness of the organisation during a difficult time for the bus and coach industry due to the Covid pandemic.

Cole said, “I am delighted to step into the role of CPT President. Steve has done an amazing job throughout the pandemic and I am sure he will continue to do so. I look forward to engaging with CPT members across the country and helping them to get the most out of their membership, and to work with the CPT team. They have shown great commitment to helping members during what are extraordinarily difficult times.”

Outgoing President, Steve Whiteway, added, “This year has been the hardest of times for our industry, but I am proud of the way the CPT team and our members have rallied to support each other. It has been an honour to serve as CPT President and I wish Jane Cole every success in her presidential year. Her experience and expertise will be invaluable to CPT’s members.”
