SMMT publishes a number of books, CDs, brochures and reports related to the automotive industry. Many of our publications are available free of charge and can be downloaded from this website using the list below. Others can be ordered by calling or e-mailing us.

This report forms part of the Institute’s ‘policies for change’ programme, which looks at what more could be done to rebuild and rebalance the economy. The work was supported by the SMMT, which acts as the voice of the motor industry, and who want to get a better understanding of the relationship between the financial sector andthe UK’s fast changing automotive supply chain.

SMMT’s 10th annual New Car CO2 Report, which shows ongoing reductions in average emissions of new cars. 2010 figures drop by 3.5% on the previous year to 144.2g/km CO2 (equivalent to about 50mpg), down by over 20% since 2000.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trader’s (SMMT) 11th annual sustainability report reveals that UK manufacturing has made significant progress in cutting CO2 emissions, waste and energy use despite the challenges of the recent economic crisis. The report highlights progress in social, environmental and economic sectors of the motor industry through 2009 and demonstrates that despite challenging economic conditions last year, automotive accounted for £23.8 billion of the UK’s total export values and still employs over 700,000 people.
